Janet has been a recruiter for UAMS East Regional Campus since 2009 and offers such programs as Day in the Life, Mini MASH, and MASH camps. She also helps students in the preparation for medical school, nursing school, pharmacy school, and similar programs. Janet is originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas, but has been married to Shaw Ligon and living in Phillips County for 39 years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Prior to joining UAMS, Janet worked in the field of education for 11 years. She enjoys spending most of her time with her six grandchildren and is best known as “NANA”.
Jesse became an Education Coordinator with UAMS North Central in January 2017. He works with local high schools, colleges, and universities in the North Central region to promote health careers and assist in advising those seeking to enter professional health careers. He has 18 years of experience in healthcare and education. He came to UAMS from National Park College where he was a Health Science Technology Education (HSTE) faculty member and before that served as Director of Health Science Technology Education programs for the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB). Cargill also has a background in healthcare as a Radiologic Technologist working previously for White River Health System and Sherwood Urgent Care. He graduated from Batesville High School and the University of Central Arkansas holding a B.S. in Radiography. He is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and holds a license in the state of Arkansas as a Radiologic Technologist. In his spear time, Jesse enjoys hanging out with family and friends, traveling, and being active in his church.
Dylan joined the UAMS Northeast Campus in June 2023. He works with regional high schools and universities in Northeast Arkansas to promote and advise students interested in professional health career opportunities! He also works with students preparing for medical school, nursing school, pharmacy school, and other pre-professional routes. Prior to joining UAMS, he worked in Career Services at Arkansas State University, where he also holds a bachelor’s degree from, for 4 years. Additionally, he also holds a master’s degree from Arkansas Tech University. Dylan enjoys the outdoors, sports, and spending time with his wife and family.
Ana Sanchez is a native of Mexico and grew up in Los Angeles, California. She has a bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies with an emphasis in Latin American Literature and a minor in English as a Second Language from the California State University Northridge in Northridge CA and a Master’s of Art in Latin American Literature from CSUN. Prior to joining UAMS, Ana taught Spanish and Latin American Literature in Los Angeles and in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Ana has also worked with local nonprofit organizations where she assisted newly arrived immigrants and migrants adjust to life in the United States. Her professional background includes community organizations, teaching, and recruitment at the Springdale Public Library. Ana is a certified ESL teacher and mentor through the ProLiteracy Program and the Washington County Literacy Council.
Stephen Attebery joined UAMS Regional Campuses in January 2015. Stephen is currently a Program Manager with a focus on the UAMS AHEC Scholars program. AHEC Scholars is geared toward professional healthcare students such as medical, pharmacy and physician assistant students promoting a healthcare focus in rural and community settings. Stephen also works with area universities and high schools to promote health careers and advise students seeking to enter professional health careers. While at UAMS, Stephen has also served as behavioral health faculty with the UAMS South Regional Campus and participated research opportunities such as diabetes research conducted through the UAMS Center for Health Literacy. Stephen holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration emphasizing Management and Finance from Southern Arkansas University and a Master’s of Education in Agency Counseling from the University of North Texas.
Danielle joined the UAMS South Central Campus in January 2021. She works with local high schools and universities in the South Central region to promote health careers and assists in advising those seeking to enter professional health careers. She also helps students in the preparation for medical school, nursing school, pharmacy school, and many more. Danielle is a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Prior to joining UAMS, Danielle worked in the field of education for 8 years and for the Arkansas Department of Human Services as a Program Specialist for 6 years. Danielle enjoys spending time with her family, her grandchildren, traveling, working in her community, and serving in her local church as a children’s ministry leader and a member of the music ministry.
Destiny became a Recruiting Specialist in September 2019, after 15 years with UAMS. She works closely with high school and college students interested in pursuing health careers; as well as medical, pharmacy, and physician assistant students who choose to do rotations at the Regional Programs Southwest Campus. During her time with UAMS she has served as Library Director and Health Educator for the Family Medicine Residency Program. Destiny, a native of Texarkana, holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M-Texarkana. She enjoys spending time with her husband, their 17-year-old son, and their two dogs. She also likes traveling, photography, and local history.
Ursula Redmond recently joined the UAMS Regional Programs team. She is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Augustana College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. In addition, she attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she completed graduate coursework in Healthcare Administration. She has spent the majority of her professional career in community healthcare and non-profit administration. Ms. Redmond brings a diverse set of experiences with her. She has had the privilege to work in public health research, cancer awareness, and educating youth on financial literacy. She is passionate about healthcare and education. Her time here at UAMS is focused on connecting aspiring medical professionals with underserved communities. In her spare time, she loves to serve, read, shop, and explore new places.
