Community-Based Practice with University Backing

Residency BookletCreated in 1972, The UAMS Regional Programs System in Arkansas exists to extend the resources of our state’s medical school, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), throughout the entire state.

All our Family Medicine Residency Programs have the advantages associated with being community-based programs that are University affiliated.  UAMS Regional Center residents gain first-hand experience working in community hospitals while being trained and supervised by both faculty physicians and physicians in private practice.

The UAMS Regional Centers System in Arkansas is unique in that it is closely affiliated with our only medical school, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Each UAMS Regional Family Medicine Clinic operates as a community clinic, with ties to local hospitals and community physicians. In addition to these relationships, UAMS Regional Family Medicine Residents enjoy the full support of a major medical school. This means institutional support for translational research projects, access to academic faculty, participation in top-notch continuing education, and much more.

At UAMS Regional Programs, we have seven unique residencies.  Visit each program page to see which one is the right fit for you.
