Medical Interpreter Training Program

The Introduction to Medical Interpreter Training Program is a free five-week; 20-hour training offered to 12th grade bilingual students.  The program introduces BILINGUAL high school students interested in medical careers to medical interpreting.  The student must have taken A&P, Medical Terminology or a medical related class. Students who are bilingual in any language may apply. Students selected into the Intro to MITP program will learn the how’s and should’s of medical interpreting, national ethics for medical interpreters, national standards of practice, plus take part in medical scenarios to learn terminology on medical procedures, cultural healings and more.

AR Tech DaSH

Arkansas Technology and Data Science in Health & Medicine (AR Tech DaSH) is a focused outreach exposure program for high school students, teachers and the community sponsored by faculty at UAMS. Students must currently be in 9th grade (rising 10th grade students in the summer).

M*A*S*H*

M*A*S*H* (Medical Applications of Science for Health) is a two-week summer enrichment program for rising juniors and seniors to have a deeper experience with a wide variety of health professions. Through shadowing, hands-on activities, dissections, CPR and First-Aid, speakers and projects, students gain knowledge and experience.

An Overview of the M*A*S*H* Program

Find Your Future in Health Care

Find Your Future in Health Care is a free, two-day virtual camp. Students will be introduced to a variety of health careers, participate in exciting hands on activities, and hear from healthcare professionals and current UAMS students. Student who wish to apply must confirm that they have internet access and their own computer. Accepted students will be provided an activity kit.

Presentations on health care careers and related topics are available at local high schools upon request. High schools interested in arranging for a presentation to be held at your school should contact Education Coordinator, Ana Sanchez.
