Attendings were very engaged and provided valuable learning experiences. This clerkship stood out to me in that the attendings made a clear effort to connect with me and have intentional conversations in order to best facilitate my learning.

This was a great opportunity to get exposed to family medicine in both an outpatient and inpatient environment. I was very interested in FM before, but I think this course sealed the deal for me.

Seeing many different kinds of cases was beneficial for reviewing multiple systems and pathologies. I found working with residents and in the procedure clinic especially rewarding because it helped me understand what draws physicians to family medicine, and it also demonstrated the scope of what family medicine physicians can do.

I appreciated the wide range of cases we encountered, which demonstrated the broad scope of family medicine—from managing acute illnesses to chronic conditions and focusing on preventive care. The clerkship also highlighted the importance of understanding patients’ social and personal backgrounds, deepening my appreciation for holistic care. The teaching was supportive and hands-on. Overall, this experience helped hone my history-taking and communication skills and reinforced the important role family physicians have in the healthcare system.
