UAMS e-Link

UAMS e-Link designs and manages telemedicine programs through broadband technology and training. As one of the larger telemedicine networks in the country, e-Link lowers infrastructure costs with grant-funded initiatives and consortium purchasing and improves access, affordability, and outcomes for rural health care providers and communities across Arkansas.

UAMS e-Link

USAC Rural Health Care (RHC) Program & Consortium Purchasing

UAMS e-Link provides expertise and consortium purchasing that reduce broadband and equipment costs for rural healthcare providers through the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) Rural Health Care Program. Bulk purchasing, competitive bidding, and USAC reimbursement combine for deep discounts on telemedicine and networking infrastructure, and e-Link manages eligibility, application submission, compliance, and reimbursement for more than 600 consortium members.

UAMS Interpreter Program

The interpreter program provides medical interpreters and translation services so that patients with limited English proficiency or who use sign language may navigate complex medical information, give informed consent, and participate in their treatment plans. The service is offered in-person or remotely, which is critical for rural patients who rely on digital platforms and regional sites to connect with UAMS specialists.

UAMS MOTHER

The UAMS MOTHER program offers home visiting and care coordination for high-risk pregnant and postpartum patients in 19 Arkansas counties. The program extends care beyond the clinic with in-home support, health monitoring, postpartum follow-up, and coordination of medical and social services.

Trauma Telemedicine Programs

The IDHI trauma telemedicine programs connect UAMS trauma and subspecialty experts with emergency departments statewide using telehealth coverage and image-sharing technologies. These programs rapidly evaluate injuries such as hand trauma, review imaging and help decide if patients can be safely treated locally or need transfer to a higher-level trauma center. This specialty access reduces unnecessary transfers, shortens travel for rural patients, and helps Arkansas’ trauma system deliver timely, cost-effective care close to home.

Trauma Telemedicine

IDHI Stroke Program

The IDHI stroke program connects UAMS vascular neurologists with more than 60 Arkansas hospitals, many without on-site neurologists. Specialists guide local emergency teams in rapidly evaluating stroke symptoms, interpreting imaging, and deciding whether to administer thrombolytic therapy using real-time telehealth technology. The program reduces preventable stroke disability and mortality and supports cost-effective care in communities that would otherwise require long transfers for specialty care.
