This four-year program seeks to recruit and retain nurse practitioners who plan to be primary care providers in rural and/or underserved areas. Students are supported with scholarships and stipends while practicing at partner clinical training sites. This not only prepares graduates to serve rural areas but also improves the training experience for both students and preceptors.
The nurse-midwifery program was created to close care gaps in Arkansas’ maternal care deserts and is open to applicants anywhere in the state. Most of the teaching is offered remotely and on-demand, using simulations and case scenarios while incorporating interprofessional education.
