UAMS Rural Health Hub
The UAMS rural health hub is a collection of how UAMS connects rural communities in Arkansas to programs that improve health and well-being.
This site has gathered UAMS’ education, research, clinical care, and community engagement programs that tackle issues plaguing rural Arkansans, including limited access to care, workforce shortages, and higher rates of chronic disease.
Four areas of focus:
- Education and Training: Programs for current and future health professionals that prepare them to serve rural communities through academic pathways, residencies, workforce development, continuing education and community-based training.
- Research: Studies to better understand rural health needs, shape policy and practice, and support innovation to improve health outcomes in underserved areas.
- Patient Care and Clinical Services: Clinical programs that expand access to high-quality primary, specialty, and telehealth services for rural patients and families.
- Community Outreach: Community partnerships that expand local services in the towns where rural Arkansans live.
