Welcome to UAMS South Central located in the gateway to the Arkansas Delta, Pine Bluff. Founded by an act of the Arkansas legislature in 1972 to establish Area Health Education Centers throughout the state, the UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program is the oldest in the UAMS Regional Campuses System and is committed to fulfilling the need for primary care physicians trained to practice in any setting, but particularly rural communities in Arkansas. Our program is the ideal setting for the resident who desires broad based, patient-centered training in an ambulatory, inpatient and emergency setting. The UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program’s sponsoring institution is Jefferson Regional Medical Center, a 375 bed tertiary care facility offering a broad range of services and specialties. South Central also offers rotations through the UAMS College of Medicine and the UAMS College of Nursing to junior and senior medical students, pharmacy students, nursing, PA students and advanced nursing students, among others. On-Line access is available to all Journals from the Library at the UAMS Campus in Little Rock. In addition, we have outstanding programs in pre-health recruitment, community and regional outreach, community education and telemedicine.
UAMS South Central is currently home to UAMS Family Medical Center-Pine Bluff which consists of three family medicine clinic PODs serving our region, all staffed by top-notch faculty physicians and offering the latest in patient-centered care. This clinic is a “state of the art” Family Medicine clinic that offers our patients Lab services, X-ray, a Clinical Pharmacist and a Behavioral Health specialist. UAMS South Central serves eleven counties in south central Arkansas: Jefferson, Saline, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Lonoke, Prairie, Arkansas, Lincoln, Drew and Cleveland.
