Ashley Gelinas, M.D.

Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine

My name is Ashley. I was born in Massachusetts but raised in South Florida. I attended the University of Miami (Go Canes!) and obtained my bachelor’s in nursing. I worked at University of Miami Hospital for 3 years before deciding to apply to medical school. I worked nights, took my prerequisite courses slowly, and thankfully was accepted to Ross University.  In just a few weeks, I packed my belongings and moved to Dominica, West Indies. Although cows strolled through the streets like cars, I enjoyed my time on the “Nature Isle of the Caribbean.” When September came around, I applied to residencies across the United States. Without ever having spent time in Arkansas, I chose UAMS in Jonesboro as my future residency program. It was the perfect combination of clinic and hospital medicine. During interview day, I noticed a variety of disease pathology throughout the patient population in Jonesboro. Faculty was approachable, and the residents enjoyed working. People were happy, easygoing and nice! Looking back, I’m grateful I made the right decision. When I’m not working, I enjoy watching live music (pre-COVID), playing Catchphrase with friends, reading psychological thrillers, traveling with family, paddle boarding, and winter skiing.
