Family Medicine Rural Track Residency Program
A rural track program is an independently accredited residency program that collaborates closely with an existing ‘urban’ residency program. As a resident, you spend more than 50% of your time on clinical rotations and didactic experiences at rural sites. Like many rural track programs, our program follows a 1-2 format, with your first year spent at an urban hospital and your next two years at a rural hospital and clinics. You gain comprehensive clinical training and continuity clinic experience alongside peers in the urban program during your initial year.
Our partnership with the UAMS Little Rock Family Medicine Residency Program enriches your training experience, leveraging the strengths of both urban and rural healthcare settings. During your PGY-1 year, you train at UAMS in Little Rock, rotate for two months of pediatric training at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and conduct your continuity clinics at the UAMS Family Medical Center Little Rock. In your PGY-2 and PGY-3 years, you transition to El Dorado, splitting your time between South Arkansas Regional Hospital, local clinics, and conducting your continuity clinic at UAMS Health Family Medical Center El Dorado. Explore our detailed rotation schedule to see how we prepare you for a fulfilling career in rural family medicine.
