The UAMS Northwest Family Medicine Residency Program is a community-based, university-administered Family Medicine Program that was originally founded in 1975. The residency program is one of eight Family Medicine programs across the state of Arkansas that are affiliated with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Each faculty member has an academic appointment at the medical school. In addition, the residency program is affiliated with the Area Health Education Center and is administered by this organization.

Because of increasing interest in our program, we have, over the past several years, expanded our number of residency positions. This residency program is recognized throughout the South Central region of the United States as a program of excellence.
