Medical Applications of Science for Health

The Mini Medical Applications of Science for Health (M*A*S*H) Program is a one-week summer health careers camp for high school students to learn about health professions. During the program students learn basic CPR and first aid, casting and suturing, learn about physical assessment, medical terminology and much, much more. Applications for the program are mailed each January to area high school counselors and science teachers. In addition, staff members provide presentations at area high schools about the program to recruit students.

M*A*S*H is open to current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and one science/one math class with a “B” average to apply. Teacher and counselor recommendations are required (mailed with student applications). M*A*S*H is sponsored state-wide by UAMS and the Arkansas Farm Bureau. Locally, M*A*S*H receives support from CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, Wadley Regional Medical Center, and Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville. For more information on M*A*S*H, e-mail Destiny Carter.
